Barnes Yard Petting Zoo in cooperation with Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4H bring to you and your children a unique hands on animal experience!
In our 4-H camp program we will be covering basic animal husbandry, showmanship and sportsmanship, public speaking, team building and the encouragement of self motivated individual all while learning the daily tasks of caring for a farm.

How Does this Work?
Located on the historic Hoff Vannatta Farmstead in Warren County, NJ we will bring a piece of history to life for a 2 week series as children learn and participate in daily farm chores such as cleaning pens, feeding animals, and helping to manage the overall health and wellness of the animals. Each day, kids will be able to practice handling animals in preparation of the show ring. They will also be learning and participating in different farm management tasks, crafts and game while working with guest speakers on daily topics of discussion.

Farm chores are fun but lets really dig in!
Each kid is able to work with all of our animals in a hands on learning experience that is going to gear them toward the show ring. After 1 week of working with the animals your kids will be joining us as we move camp to the Warren County Farmers Fair where their skills will be put to the test. There will be opportunity for kids to enter a showmanship class in front of a judge in the hopes of winning some ribbon to take home!
Throughout the week of the fair, kids will be expected to participate in daily farm tasks while engaging with the public to talk about their animals of interest and what they learned while at farm camp.
AFTER CAMP
It is our hope that after experiencing farm camp, kids will have the opportunity to join 4H programs in areas they sampled with us and found interesting.
Not a resident of Warren County, NJ .…NO PROBLEM! We encourage kids from all over PA and NJ to join us in farm camp! Once camp is over, the cooperative extension office of Warren County can help direct you to 4H groups in your county of residence.
In the mean time, come join us and sample 2 weeks in the life of a 4-H kid!
