Hi! I’m Marie.

Meet Marie Barnes, Founder of Barnes Yard Petting Zoo, LLC. Growing up her primary focus was her horses and learning as much as she could about the equine world. Her passions for the four-legged and furry didn't end there. Through the years, Marie has raised countless species of animals for a multitude of purposes but ultimately her heart always brought her back to animals in need.

"...I wanted to bridge the gap that seems to be a disconnect with animals and the general public. By creating opportunities to have hands on experiences, we are making a lifetime of memories. Those memories ultimately make a difference for today's youth and tomorrows conservation of animals and animal welfare..."

Marie is a former FFA and 4-H member of the Northampton County area where she was a member of several clubs and held many offices until aging out at 18 years old.

She currently holds educational standings and independent areas of study interest in communication studies, Certified Pet Grooming, Certified Animal First Aid and CPR, and veterinary sciences.

Hi! I’m Jennifer.

Jennifer’s areas of interest rest heavily with her chickens though she is a lover of all animals and outdoor life. As a young woman, Jennifer had attended the Tom Brown Tracker School where she learned her basics in tracking as well as many outdoor survival techniques. Later her passion of animals led her to an independent study focusing primarily on chickens and other poultry. She is now an accomplished certificate holder for Chicken Behavior and Welfare taught by staff from Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), University of Glasgow, and St David's Poultry Team additionally recognized by the University of Edinburgh and Scotland's Rural College.

Jennifer can often be seen at Barnes Yard Petting Zoo with her favorite rescue hen, Henrietta.
